EAST LANSING, Mich. – Oct. 14 –  For the first time, MHSAA.tv will have live streaming video from the Finish Line of the Upper Peninsula Cross Country Finals.  This year’s meet takes place Saturday (Oct. 18) at the Gentz Homestead Golf Course outside of Marquette, beginning at 11 a.m.

The stream will also include the start of each race, the first and last 400 to 800 meters, and interviews will also take place on the continuous coverage from 11 a.m. to approximately 2 p.m.  The live stream will be free and also be archived for On Demand viewing.  Here’s the complete schedule:

  • 11 a.m. – Division 1 Boys Race
  • 11:30 a.m. – Division 2 Boys Rave
  • Noon – Division 3 Boys Race
  • 12:30 p.m. – Division 1 Girls Race
  • 1 p.m. – Division 2 Girls Race
  • 1:30 p.m. – Division 3 Girls Race

Live coverage on MHSAA.tv of the MHSAA Boys Soccer Tournament begins Tuesday (Oct. 14), with District Semifinal activity at 4 sites.  Here’s the complete schedule:

All live against are available on MHSAA.tv on a subscription basis.   Subscriptions run either $9.95 for a Day Pass, or $14.95 for a Month Pass.  Games will become available for free On Demand viewing three days after they have been played.

Weekly highlights, features and analysis of high school football games across the state on MHSAA Football Friday Overtime are now available for On Demand viewing on the Prep Zone page of the FOX Sports Detroit Website - http://www.foxsports.com/detroit/high-school

The Prep Zone page will also be where fans can watch four live MHSAA Football Playoff games each week of the tournament.

Football Friday Overtime is in its fourth season on FOX Sports Detroit, airing at Midnight each Friday and running for 13 weeks.  Mickey York and Rob Rubick host this 30-minute highlights show.  The show reairs Saturdays at 11 a.m., and Sunday mornings – check your local listings.  (This week at 7 a.m.)

The following games are scheduled to be highlighted this week on Football Friday Overtime:

  • Detroit Cass Tech v. Detroit East English (PSL Semifinals)
  • Detroit Renaissance v. Detroit King (PSL Semifinals)
  • Walled Lake Western at Hartland
  • Flushing at Fenton
  • Oak Park at Southfield
  • Farmington at Birmingham Groves
  • Flint Beecher at Montrose (MHSAA School Broadcast Program Video)
  • Manton at Lincoln Alcona (MHSAA School Broadcast Program Video)

The School Broadcast Program gives members an opportunity to showcase excellence in their schools by creating video programming of athletic and non-athletic events; with students gaining skills in announcing, camera operation, directing/producing and graphics.  The program also gives schools the opportunity to raise money through advertising and viewing subscriptions.   A total of 49 events were streamed by schools last week, with activities ranging from daily announcements to school board meetings, live sporting events and pep rallies.   As many as 60 MHSAA member schools annually participate in the program, which is in its sixth year.

Here’s the schedule of School Broadcast Program members planning to cover varsity competition this week for broadcast at MHSAA.tv  (As of Oct. 6).  The following events will be shown live on a subscription basis:

  • Fairview at Whittemore-Prescott – Girls Volleyball –  Tuesday, 7 p.m.

  • Manton at Lincoln Alcona – Football – Friday, 7 p.m.
  • Tawas at Pinconning – Girls Volleyball – Wednesday, 6:30 p.m.
  • Greenville at Cedar Springs – Football – Friday, 7 p.m.
  • Allendale at Comstock Park – Football – Friday – 7 p.m.
  • Whittemore-Prescott at Hillman – Football – Friday, 7 p.m.
  • Coopersville at Comstock Park – Girls Volleyball – Oct. 21 – 7:30 p.m.

The following events will be available following their completion via Video on Demand:

  • Rogers City at Hillman – Girls Volleyball – Tuesday, 7 p.m.
  • Holt at East Lansing – Girls Volleyball – Tuesday, 6 p.m.
  • L’Anse at Calumet – Girls Volleyball – Thursday, 7 p.m.
  • Atlanta at Rogers City – Girls Volleyball – Thursday, 7 p.m.
  • Brimley at Posen – Football – Friday, 7 p.m.
  • Oscoda at Rogers City – Football – Friday, 7 p.m.

Subscriptions support individual school programs; and many schools are now offering discounted annual passes through their portal pages, which will also allow for live viewing of nearly 300 live MHSAA post-season tournament events throughout the school year.

Now in its tenth season is the radio commentary MHSAA Perspective – presented by the Michigan Army National Guard, which airs on over 80 radio stations and audio outlets across the state, generally during the local broadcasts of high school games.  The program runs for 30 weeks through the end of the winter sports season.  MHSAA Perspective can also be accessed from the home page of the MHSAA Website.
